Between 2019 - 2024, Lyra appointed an annual Festival Poet. Each year they would perform at the festival, run a workshop, judge the poetry slam, and run community sessions around the city, responding to the theme of the festival.

Since Lyra took over the Bristol City Poet scheme in 2024, the City Poet now also acts as a resident poet at Lyra Festival.
